The Home of Joy

I worked with creative director Alan Aboud and architecture practice CARPENTE to develop The Home of Joy, a 230-page book documenting the studio’s reimagining of a 1,500-square-metre country house in Surrey.

Working closely with Alan and the project team, I shaped the editorial structure of the book and wrote all accompanying text, organising the project into a series of chapters that reflect the breadth and depth of the work – from architecture and interiors through to bespoke furniture and art curation.

The book combines project photography with interviews featuring the architect, his client, and a range of collaborators, artists and artisans. The aim was to create something more than a portfolio – a narrative account of a single project, capturing both the process and the thinking behind it.

Produced as a large-format, cloth-bound volume housed in a handmade leather-clad clamshell case, The Home of Joy offers a detailed insight into CARPENTE’s approach, where each space is conceived individually, yet forms part of a coherent whole.
